Behind every sin there is the MIND
We suffer. We commit sins. We murder people. We rape girls and ladies. We go to jail. We are hanged till death. We fight and get punished. We envy others. We deceive friends. All these misdeeds, sins and misdemeanors come back to us and we suffer. We suffer. Why? Because Mind is the real culprit. Behind every sin there is a mind.
We suffer. We have to undergo pains in life....birth, illness, old age, death etc. We have to undergo various agonizing situations in life.....we become victims of deceptions, murders, rapes, accidents, accusations, controversies etc. Why? Why do we have to undergo these pains?
Because we fail to discipline our own mind. We give free rein to our mind which it does not deserve. That is why sins occur in the world. Because people do not keep their minds under tight leash. It is the Mind that leads us either to the hell or to the heaven. Mind commits sins and we perish. We are the sole proprietor of our mind which is a mere servant, mere tool meant to serve us. We fail to understand this simple mechanism offered to us by the Nature. We are supposed to be in the driver's seat. However, we allow our own stupid mind to take charge of our life. When the Mind does not have any driving license. In such circumstances, mishap has to occur.
Then, how to discipline our mind? Sages in India have found out the answers to this problem. Anyone wanting to know more about it can contact me.

One must understand the mechanism of our personality. When we buy a machine we get a manual from the manufacturer. The manual makes it easier for the user to operate the machine. Unfortunately, when an individual is born the God or the Nature does not provide any manual. Hence it becomes difficult for the individual to make optimum use of the faculties incorporated in the ‘Machine’ called body. In universities and colleges teachers teach only about the anatomy. But that is only a fraction of the entire system. The material body is only the tip of the ice berg. What lies beneath is that really matters. What lies beneath can not be seen by naked eyes. That does not mean , it does not exist. I can not watch Washington or New York from where I am sitting now. That does not mean these cities do not exist. So one should not trust one’s own eyes to get the entire picture, the true picture.
One has to develop special vision to see what the naked eyes can not see. Commoners do not develop such vision but saints do. Saints and seers in India have developed such vision and saw the entire picture, understood the entire mechanism of the Nature and prepared scripts wherein all the details have been incorporated. In short, they have prepared the manual for this machine, called an individual. Since there is no authentic manual, individual can not make optimum use of this machine. As a result, our life has become a radarless, anchorless ship. Without a perfect, authentic manual, we are not aware of the very purpose of life. Why have we taken birth on this planet? What is the purpose of the nature to send us down on this earth? What are the dos and don’t s of this life? Since we do not know the purpose of our life we waste it while eating, drinking, making love and merry-making in short…. only to pave the way for another painful birth and another painful life. Therefore, one must understand the mechanism of a life.
What is in that manual? If one wants to understand the entire mechanism of life one should read Upanishads and Vedas, the important scripts in Indian culture. It can be said in short that a personality is made of five sheaths, (koshas) viz Annamaya kosha (material body which needs food), Manomaya kosha ( Mind), Buddhimaya or Vidnyanamaya Kosha ( Intelligence), Pranamaya Kosha ( Energy to sustain these three sheaths) and the last one is, Anandamaya Kosha ( The Soul, the Self).
The last sheath is one’s true self. It does not take birth, nor does it die. The rest of the sheaths are given to the individual to serve the central sheath, to serve the master, to serve the soul. Material body, mind and intellect and prana are only the implements. They are all servants of the soul, our servants. Mind is our servant. Intellect is our servant. Is it so, in reality? Ask yourself.
Actually, the servants have become masters. Mind and intellect have ceased to be our servants. They are ruling the roost. We lead our life as our mind wants and as our intellect suggests ; unaware of the fact that they are not properly equipped with common sense and authentic knowledge. We have become the puppets of our own mind and intellect, the raw, rustic, uncultured ruffians. The path they show to us lead to nowhere but disaster. Left unchecked, they can not liberate us from the vicious and painful cycle of birth, disease, old age and death. We are traveling in a bus the drivers of which are drunk and lunatics. Will we reach our true destination in such circumstances? Never. Then what is the way out?
To lead the life of purpose, to lead a peaceful, prosperous and happy life one must follow the authentic doctrine, the authentic manual prepared by the saints, not by the those prepared by intellectuals, not by the writers of the constitutions of the countries, not by the litterateurs, not by the glamorous actors and actresses, not by the kings and prime ministers. The saints are the the true visionaries. They do not depend on material things, things present in the outside world which is a big illusion and and which is temporary. To get knowledge, they depend solely on their inner world, the true world. By meditating deeply, they have acquired the true knowledge. What they acquire is true knowledge. What we acquire is mostly information which keeps on changing.
The saints have said that one’s mind is one’s enemy and friend. It is the mind that leads us to either paradise or hell. It depends on how one treats one’s mind. Mind is the best servant and the worst master. We have been treating our mind as our master.Mind is the master of our sensory organs. Our sensory organs indulge in 1) sound 2) sight 3) taste 4) sex 5) smell. These five things are the real culprits, the vishayas. They shackle us to this material world. They do not allow us to get liberated. They lead us to hell. Mind, along with these organs make our life a nightmare.
The first and the immediate task before us, therefore, is to change the role of our own mind. Make it your servant. Detach our organs from the vishayas. Stop them from indulging. However, this is a very difficult task, almost impossible. Because our mind has been playing the role of our master for centuries. If we suddenly ask it to be our servant, it will refuse. It will even rebel against us. It is used to be the master. We have been slaves of our mind for centuries. How can we liberate from these shackles all of a sudden? We will have to; because that is the very purpose of life; that is the Nature’s design. How? For that you will have to wait for my next blog.
